Who we are
Knot Leafing Around is an owner-run tree service working across Horry County and the Grand Strand: Conway, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, Socastee, Surfside Beach, Murrells Inlet, Little River, Aynor, and Loris. We are based at 1480 Teague Road in Myrtle Beach. The work happens at your property: the truck, the trailer, and the crew come to you.
Corey runs the business and runs the jobs. When you call, you get him. When he comes to look at the tree, he is the one who will be there when it comes down. That is deliberate. The person who gave you the price should be the person responsible for the work.
How we work
We climb. Most tree services on the coast work from a bucket truck on the street, which is fine for a tree on the street. Most trees that need work are in the backyard, over the roof, or between two houses where no truck will ever go. A climber on a rope can get to every part of every tree and take it apart from the top down, lowering each piece on a rigging line to the ground crew. Nothing has to fall. That is how a big oak comes out of a small yard with the fence, the shed, and the neighbor's azaleas still there.
It is slower than dropping a tree whole, and it is why the reviews keep mentioning the same thing: the yard looked better when we left than when we arrived.
Every job starts with Corey looking at the tree in person and giving you a price. Not a range, a price. Nothing is scheduled until you say so. Every job ends with the brush and logs on the trailer and the lawn raked. If you want the wood for firewood, say so and it gets cut and stacked instead.
The gear
Climbing and rigging is equipment-heavy work, and the equipment is what makes it safe. Every climb uses a rope system, a harness, a helmet, chaps, and hearing protection. Rigging lines and lowering devices control every piece on the way down. The saws are professional-grade and the chains are sharp, because a sharp chain makes a clean cut and a clean cut is a safer one.
For trees too rotten or too dead to climb safely, we bring a compact tracked lift that fits through a standard gate and reaches over a two-story house. A pickup and a dump trailer carry everything away.
What we will tell you
A tree company makes more money removing a tree than keeping it. We would rather be the crew that kept it. If your oak needs a trim and not a removal, we will say so. If a tree is fine and you were worried for nothing, we will say that too. If a tree is dangerous and you were hoping to keep it, we will explain why it is not a good idea. You will get a straight answer either way, and then it is your call.
Where the name comes from
It is a pun, and Corey stands by it. The logo is a leaf outlined in rope, which is a fair summary of the job: trees, and the rope work that gets you into them and gets the pieces down safely.
